Dating Ms. Independent

dating-ms-independent-suesanne-tusiime-www (23) – Copy-001

Well, well, well… Here we are!

When I’d asked my followers on social media to relay suggestions of blog topics they’d be interested in me writing about, I half expected feedback to circle around entrepreneur topics and I was pleasantly surprised that ALL topic suggestions rotated around relationships with both oneself and others. I particularly liked the question, “Write about the perceived plight of single independent women in Uganda. Is that a myth or real issue” because it would force me to be as real and honest as possible – which I found quite hard as I generally dislike being categorized or put in a box. I like being looked at s a wholesome individual and as much as certain characteristics or attributes might stick out like a sore thumb, I do possess deeper aspects that are more fragile. Single Independent Woman… hmmm Sounds like wonder woman wrapped in Iron man’s suit to be honest and I usually sigh a bit at the sound of that only because the statement has a connotation of non-emotional hardness, I guess… But here’s the thing, it did force me to analyse myself with regards to where I belong in today’s society. I’m made up of different components that would suggest I am indeed a single independent woman living in today’s Ugandan society. I do have the ability to take care of myself both financially, mentally, physically and spiritually. After dancing to the beat of my own drum for  while now, I have earned a bit of freedom to wield my destiny with the guidance of my supreme master planner, God.

I also thought; Ne-Yo’s Miss Independent directly described me but most importantly, I found myself admiring the man who thought women of this caliber were sexy! I even took the liberty of custom designing the wardrobe for this blog post to suit his music video orchestration!

Dear Men

suesanne-tusiime-suesanne.me (18)

Well, hello my Valentine!
If you’re reading my blog today, you have the pleasurable honor of being my sweet valentine 🙂
I thought about what I’d want to say during the moments of this sweet, red tainted and ever so corny period of the year (it just is…) I’ve put a little spin on it and turned it into something less cliché – or so I hope, so here goes!

My 28

suesanne-tusiime-my-28 (9)
It’s obvious I feel some type of way about turning 28. If I were to choose one word to describe this feeling, it would be… sexy! I certainly feel more comfortable in my own skin and who I am as a person.
So many different emotions keep clamoring for attention giving me flashbacks of the various paths I’ve taken willingly and otherwise that led me here. There isn’t and has never been a calculated method to my madness so I’m just going to write down all that comes to me.
I could make this simple, but it’s just a little complicated. I could write things like, ‘I’m blessed’ and tell you how I’ve received a certain level of enlightenment and bouquets of happiness… But that’s just not what I want to write about. I’m a long walk from a cliché and I actually like that about myself!

Honey Glazed Non-Fat Beef Sauce

food-post1

Let’s just start with I love, love cooking! It’s literally one of my favourite activities to do while I am at home; Even when I am being forced into it by  a certain someone, (the only woman who basically runs my life!) I secretly really enjoy it! Although I’m not an apron wearing and measuring cup type of cook, I’m pretty good at experimenting and making some awesome dishes!

Body Suit Fanatic

For starters, it’s Friday! yippi!!!

I am a little bit of a tom boy at heart and I actually had full on side burns when I was younger! Today, I’m wearing some of my favourite accessories including; the white men’s dress shirt, sneakers and a pair of shorts I cut and dyed myself (they were previously jeans :-)). You might have noticed the men’s dress shirt is sorta my thing at the moment. My love affair with them only begun after I started Paple Rayn unlike with the shorts which I’ve always loved wearing. I’m fairly tall and I’d like to think they compliment that quite well. Body suits are accessories I only recently started collecting and I’ve found that they’re pretty easy with the right amount of sassy. They have some cool benefits as well; No panty lines showing above your jeans when you sit down and they give your body some nice shape! Honestly, I was completely sold on the panty line bit cause that’s one of my phobias! I used the oversized dress shirt to compliment the shorts and to even out the outfit.

Kampala Serena High Tea Meets Suited: Sue

0

Hello!

So if you follow me on social media you know this weekend I was invited to attend Kampala Serena’s High Tea event. I had never attended any of the previous ones so I was definitely looking forward to this one! When they told me the theme was “Colour block” and I should bring a fascinator, I was so excited to bring Sue out! You know; the bubbly, happy, fun, always smiling girl from the Suited Series. When she smiles, you can see that subtle dimple on her right chic… It’s a shy dimple and occasionally makes an appearance.
